And ready to head to Kidlit Vic 2018 in Melbourne this weekend. I’m looking forward to a great day of panels and workshops aswell as getting to know fellow writers and publishers.
A son off school + an eight hour power cut = learning how to skim stones on a wind-ravaged bay

After years of writing I am prepared to admit that I find it incredibly easy to get distracted from my work by almost anything. Even picking up the wrong pen can slow me down. Sometimes it is colour of the ink, sometimes the lines can be too thick or too faint, sometimes it can just feel wrong in my hand.
Of course I am aware that this is a case of my brain searching for a way out of writing for the day so I decided to act positively. I spent an hour testing the numerous pens scattered around the house and choose my favourite. Before I could change my mind I went to the newsagents so that I could buy a long-term supply and have no more excuses. Of course, there were none in stock but the lovely staff offered to order as many as I needed and mentioned the discount for buying a complete box.
Two days later I was the owner of a brand new box of fine line pens and they now sit waiting for me in the kitchen drawer. Just as soon as I’ve finished weeding the garden…
Welcome to my blog!
Children are complex creatures and can inhabit an entire emotional world that we may only grab glimpses of as we rush through our everyday life.
I write poems and stories for children that reflect some of the thoughts, fears, and emotions that they feel on a daily basis because children have feelings too!
The weekly blog begins here.
